- Some text incoming here, I warn you.Here's Asher. He's a little under 2 years old but we don't know for sure what age. His original owners apparently moved house and LEFT HIM BEHIND, literally abandoning him. He was probably just over a year old at that point.Thankfully the neighbours tried to take care of him but he ended up living outside as they couldn't take him in. They fed him and took care of him until they could get him a slot at a shelter. He landed at the second shelter a little later as the original shelter was not a no-kill shelter and he was on borrowed time. That's when I got the lead on him and it's taken a few weeks to get everything sorted out. Last night Asher came home. I caught this picture of him after just about an hour of being home. I think he's comfortable.He's a huge love-bug. He wants nothing more than to be petted and loved. Not surprising with what he's been through. I've got some training to do… he's housetrained and knows some basic commands but he's also still a puppy… "stay" seems to be problematic LOL.He and Nanuq are getting along just fine. I think we'll have a few scuffles over rawhides as Nanuq's used to having them all to himself and Asher likes them too. But nothing we can't handle.Welcome home, Asher. We're so happy to have you.#siberianhusky #huskiesofinstagram - February 1, 2026
You know, now that I have a blog I start to realize the horrible irony of blogs in general; that is that when there’s lots of stuff going on in your life, you don’t have time to update the blog and TELL people about it. Conversely, when you have time to update, there’s nothing going on to write about.
I’m really just putting in an entry this morning so that people who read this (according to my apache logs, there are a few) that I am working on an update… it’s just going to take a bit of time as I need to get some picutres!
What am I doing? Well, I’ve finally bitten the bullet and decided to launch myself into the world of PVR’s by building a MythTV box. It’s a free PVR software for Linux. I think this is going to be a fun project, but it remains to be seen how well it works…
So what is my hardware for this? Well, much of it is leftovers from old systems I’ve already started building;
Case: Gateway Destination Case (old GW box…)
Mobo: Iwill BD100
CPU: AMD Athlon 800
RAM: 768M
Video: Geforce4 MX440
Hard Drives: 1x 10Gb drive (OS), 1x 60Gb drive (Data)
Misc: DVD ROM drive with Hollywood Plus decoder
I’m planning to put Fedora Core 3 on it… already got the box built this weekend, but my first download of Fedora had a bad disc 1… ACK! So, as I type I’m downloading it again.
Well, I plan to take some pictures of the installation as I work on it… the rest of my hardware is currently on order;
1x Serial to RCA Satellite Receiver cable (to control channel)
1x Hauppauge PVR-250 Decoder Card
1x Soundblaster Live! 5.1
Yikes… got to run… gotta try to get to work like sometime today…
