HISTORY OF MY
Subaru SVX Logo

It all started while I was researching cars because my poor 1986 Honda CRX was getting old and with my new job with Sprint in Kansas, I needed something more reliable.

At first I was looking at a '93 Mitsubishi Eclipse because with my limited funds, I needed something inexpensive yet reliable. I have always preferred sports cars (go figure) so the Eclipse was my best bet since I found a really cool one for $3,000. Unfortunately, as it turned out, even $3,000 was above my price range (hey, college is expensive and i am paying for it all myself)and so I had to continue looking for other cars that might be a bit more affordable.

Well, one day I ran across a Subaru SVX and couldn't believe they had made a sports-coupe line. Subaru.. Sports car.. nooooooo... but as it turned out, yes they did and not only that, but it was rated one the top cars of the year, with a 5 star rating for safety. So, I thought about getting myself one, but that thought didn't last long because one would cost me $12,000-$15,000...which is waaay more than i could pay right then.

Well, as it turned out I was interviewing for jobs (since i was getting ready to graduate college) and I was offered a job working for Sprint. WOO HOO!!! After reviewing how much they were offering to pay me i decided that i could afford a little higher priced car. So I started looking again and after a LOT of searching I ran across a '93 Anniversary Edition for $12,000. Now, you may say, wait.. I thought you couldn't even get the $3,000 Eclipse.. this doesn't make any sense. Well, as it turned out the woman was very nice and said that i could pay it out to her over a couple years. What a break!!!

With that, on January 4, 2000, James and I flew up to Monterey, California. That's right California! As soon as I saw the car I was like "That's it! Where do I sign?" but she forced me to test drive it and as we both know, that did not change my mind. *smile* So, I paid her and started familiarizing myself with my new car the long drive home back to Norman, OK (Funny enough, I still am discovering more cool things about it, like the heated side view mirrors...swweeeeeet).
Since I've had my car I've enjoyed every second inside it. It contains three things I love: Technology, Luxury, and Speed! And I mean SPEED! There is nothing like going 145 mph on an open highway and the car being as smooth as driving 55.
